Tohfa Karim, from Kandahar, Afghanistan, is a Junior at Hollins University studying business and economics.
"Outside the classroom I am the Hollins MSA president and working as a student employee for Wyndham Robertson Library. In spring 2019 I took entrepreneurship class, which provided me with ideas on how to expand my own business idea of selling Afghan traditional homemade designs, and how to bring in more women, and how to create additional employment opportunities for Afghan women. I am still in the process of working on my business idea.
I believe my mother’s strength and relentless support have greatly contributed to who I am today. I now have a clear passion to help other women become entrepreneurs and start their own businesses. I also hope to aid in the development of Afghanistan’s economy by being directly involved in the creation of economic policies."
