Farida Tahiry, an AGFAF scholar, is a sophomore at Wellesley College. She is a prospective mathematics and computer science major. She’s a member of her school’s Pakistani Student Association and is the treasurer of Wellesley’s equestrian team. She spends her time volunteering for various organizations such as Science Learning and Mentoring (SLAM) and Boston Healthcare for the Homeless in Boston.
Farida graduated from Cate School, a boarding school in California. While at Cate, she led the Public Service Night Program on campus, was a teaching assistant, and a chemistry peer tutor. At Cate, she was awarded the Miramar Award. Her passion for sustainable peace in Afghanistan has led her to intern at the High Peace Council of Afghanistan and initiate LOYA (League of Young Afghans) for peace.
After graduating from college, she is planning to return to Afghanistan and apply her knowledge in her motherland.
